I think this trip has been put off a little too long but anyway, I'm very excited and can't wait to travel and see as much as I possibly can of beautiful England. So far I know I want to visit these cities:

London

Brighton

Cornwall

I will be adding events, shops, eateries, sights, etc. and general ideas for the trip later on. But, I have to say I'm quite excited about all that England has to offer and hope to learn a little bit more about my family while I'm there! Oh, and if you want to see some pictures of the cities above or learn a little bit more about them here are some websites to check out:

London - http://www.visitlondon.com/

England, general - www.lonelyplanet.com/england

Brighton pics - http://brightondailyphoto.blogspot.com/

Brighton/Hove - http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm

Brighton - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brighton

Cornwall pics - http://www.cornwallcam.co.uk/

Cornwall - http://www.bbc.co.uk/cornwall/

Cornwall - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornwall

The Arctic South...Brrrr!!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; So lately there's been a sort of arctic front coming through the South. Not something people down here are exactly used to. Instead of a fairly mild winter (i.e - almost 70 during Christmas week), we're having unusually cold temperatures. For example, last night it got down to a low of about 10 degrees (not to mention the wind advisories we're having it probably felt more like 1 or 2 degrees!). I think right now I'm in a bit of a weathery confusion. I was thinking when we moved to the South in 1996 that we would have wonderful temperatures all year long and i could wear flip flops and shorts and never have to worry about the cold again. Well, how wrong I was. I discovered quickly that the South gets cold during the winter!!! not like D.C. or New England with pretty snow and crisp cold; it's a freezing rain, wet, gray, windy cold. The miserable kind of cold you may experience in the UK. Well, since then it's gotten worse! As you can tell from the forecast above we've had single digit temperatures and freezing winds. But, what's more peculiar is that one day it may be freezing cold and the next morning you wake up to 60 degree weather and sunny skies! I'm telling you....I've never experienced anything so crazy as the American South-East and Mid-South.

Amphibious Java

Well, in my never-ending quest to find independent and unique treasures in Jackson I can say that I'm truly, truly please with our newest edition: Green Frog Coffee Company.

It's located in downtown Jackson right across from the Courthouse (if you know where the downtown Starbucks used to be it's the same place). The staff are young and friendly and the food is spectacular! They make their own ice cream there as well as sandwiches. And if you're in the mood for traditional coffee cakes and pastries then you're only other choice is going to be choosing one from the huge glass case. But, if you're in for it's name sake (coffee not frogs!) then you won't be disappointed. Two of my favorites I've had so far are the Dirty Snowman frappe as well as the Spiced Pumpkin soy latte.

So, if you're looking for something different in Jackson that's a fresh retreat from the chain restaurants and over-commercialized coffee and sandwich shops then you'll be pleasantly surprised and refreshed by Green Frog Coffee Company!

one step at a time...

Well, this is the first entry to my brand new blog for the new year! how exciting!
